my first art doll!

Here she is, my very first art doll! This slight resemblance of Marilyn Monroe is constructed of polymer clay, beads and wire, and lots of trial-and-error! The close-up photo shows how the letter beads on her "arms" spell Norma Jean. This was a lot of fun to make, and I'm looking forward to making more! Stay tuned!

Balanced clutter

I've been holding myself back from doing any real crafting
lately, only been "virtual" crafting when I surf etsy and other artsy
blogs, etc. online. The reason is I need to get some balance with the
house, it is so unorganized and cluttered, it drives me (and Byron!!)
nuts! It's also nice to be settling into Sam's new kindergarten schedule, which
actually allows me to do some basic cleaning (real basic) and trying to
make sense of all the toys and stuff and how to manage where we play
and do what activities. Playing with the idea of either a yard sale
or selling things at one of the baby/kid stuff consignment sales, too.
I'll do a little crafting here and there, but will be able to think
more clearly about my business and where I'm going with it once these
household clutter issues are at least partially solved. Though I am
excited about scrabble tiles. we'll see what I come up with.

well colby's saying "doodles.....me" which means he wants some mac n
cheese (noodles for doodles), so gotta go!

Hi! Just thought I'd share a bit about 00my typical day. Well, I'll leave out all the silly details of what really goes on in the 2 hours of morning mayhem as I get myself and the 2 preschoolers out the door to get one to her daily preschool...it really does get crazy!!
Anyway...after finally getting DD off to school, I stop at the post office, as is becoming a ritual now, (woo hoo! I'm finally making sales!!!) and mail off my latest sale item. Then I try to hit the grocery store for a few necessities, but DS (19 mos.) won't have it. He has a terrible meltdown in the produce section, could not even get him to ride in one of the oh-so-fun "car carts", so I drag him out, kicking and screaming, and just go home. (with the music blasting to cover his screaming which I can do nothing about while I'm driving!!!) Fortunately he takes a nap right away, so I get to do my favorite pasttime, CREATING STUFF!!! Without kids! Enjoy a leisurely 3rd cup of coffee, turn on my crafting light at my craft table, and roll out some polymer clay. Just squeezing it in my hands is therapeutic, and seeing those colors form the pattern I'd envisioned while lying in bed last night is very satisfying. When I finish, I'll post a photo, I promise!
Gotta go, time for DD to come home!!!

Hi! This week was sort of exciting for me, as I made 5 sales on my etsy site, http://jennerosity.etsy.com. I think what helped, too, was that someone "found" me and featured me on this website, http://www.wickedlychic.com/. I was yesterday's "today's pick", the featured independent business of the day. So I was excited, free advertising! and seemingly those 4 sales yesterday may have come from that! So I'm learning the importance of getting connected and getting my name out there. The photos above are new items I've recently listed on http://jennerosity.etsy.com.
I'm hoping to keep up the sales and find some consistency and routine in all this, yet I always want it to feel like "art", too, at least a little bit. I know, it's 98% perspiration and 2% inspiration, or so they say, but I don't want to get caught up in the numbers.

Does this look like an artist's studio? Of course not! This is my crazy master bedroom/playroom/kids' art room/mommy's cramped and insane place to sort-of create stuff while every few seconds reaching over to open a paint bottle for the kids or pick up a toddler when he wants "down" or help pick up a bunch of beads that someone just spilled on the floor... ay yi yi!!!

Vision for Jennerosity

HI! Welcome to Jennerosity, my home for creative thinking and sharing. A place to share my ideas for my artsy online store, http://jennerosity.etsy.com. That's where I've started putting out some of my handmade creations, like the domino necklaces and pendants i love making, and a couple of the soaps I've made. Soapmaking was actually my first craft, what I really dove into, and then I meandered into rubberstamping, and especially, stamping on dominos. This week I've started playing with clay, polymer clay, and hope to soon have some clay pendants up for sale in my shop. Having some trouble with them, though, think I made them too thin, as I was able to crack them right in half after baking them, not good. Will try again.

ok, so that's the stuff I make, but what I really want this whole concept of "jennerosity" to be, is more than just a business of my making stuff and selling it. I want to get beyond that, and to not only make stuff that imparts some kind of meaning and inspiration to the buyers, by creating pieces that either include inspiring words on them, or are just inspring in other ways, but to also be a springboard of positive messages and actions to whomever I may reach. I know that sounds foggy, and I still am foggy about what my "vision statement" may eventually be, so I'll stop rambling and just stick my hands back in the clay for now. I have yet to make my second sale on etsy, since I haven't been listing new items or promoting or even had time to make stuff or do much of anything these days during my crazy life as a stay-at-home mom! But I love what I do, and need to remind myself, even in writing these posts, what really matters in life, to live "jennerously" in the areas of loving our families, living mindfully, peacefully, savoring every moment, living with open hands, giving freely, not letting the little things get my underwear all in a bundle, and so forth. Do what I say, not what I do, as I am still trying to learn these lessons!!!
